Vincent S. Coster is an Irish poet and multidisciplinary artist whose work blends lyric intensity with a distinctly visual imagination.
Raised in Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow, he began writing poetry at a young age as a way to pass the time and to impress girls, but it wasn't until he was 19 that he decided to become a poet as a vocation. He later expanded his creative practice to include painting, digital art, and photography. He also writes short stories and essays.
His work explores themes of identity, belonging, and the movement of life. He is self-taught in each of his disciplines, which he believes is a credit, as he feels creativity should not be hampered by the narrow views of academia. Coster believes that the creative act is about expressing the world as the artist sees it, and this has driven more innovation in art than all the academies have ever done, since they react to what is in the zeitgeist, and artists need to be free of trends to truly express their views in new ways.
Coster has published several poetry collections and continues to develop a body of work that bridges the verbal and the visual, shaping a unique voice within contemporary Irish art and literature. He has also published one photobook todate.
